Need a little extra help?
Our Intensive Training is available for those
who need a bit of a jump start.
If you are having trouble:
- Housebreaking
- Crate Training
- Leash Walking
- Stealing food off the counter
- Teaching basic manners
Then
this program might help. Dogs are accepted for training only after an initial evaluation. You will bring your
dog for a 1 hour session at our Boyd location so that we can meet you and your dog, discuss the areas that your dog needs
the most improvement, and make sure that your dog is compatible with our family dogs.
We
do *not* have a kennel. You dog will be integrated as much as possible into our home and our daily routine for their
training and their stay. We cannot accept dog-aggressive dogs or those dogs who are not comfortable with small children.
The evaluation will allow you to meet us in person, and to help your dog become
familiar with us and our family before their stay.
We recommend a 2 week stay
for most basic training and behavioral issues. The cost for the 2 week training period is $600.00. This cost includes
2 private sessions with your family and your dog. One session will be performed when you pick your dog up from our training.
This will enable us to show you the commands and the techniques used in training. It allows you to practice under our
supervision so that your dog realizes that you expect the same caliber of behavior that we do.
Most clients schedule their second session two weeks later. This enables you to try some of the training at
home, but to receive additional guidance if you are having any confusion or difficulty.
This type of training can be a great help, but it does not send home a perfect dog. For this training to be
successful, it is *imperative* that everyone at home be willing to practice and reinforce the desired behaviors that were
established in training. Those clients who practice and follow-up have a very high rate of success with their dogs.
Dogs who are scheduled to stay with us should bring along:
- Their
food in a zip lock bag (it's not necessary to send the 40 lb bag for a 2 week stay)
- Their
leash and collar
- A copy of their vaccination records
- The completed boarding questionnaire and waiver
- A blanket/towel/crate
pad for their crate (something that smells like home).
