Dancing Dogs

A few thoughts from our clients...

"Mary has provided excellent training and input when we have had particular rescue dachshunds with training issues. Thanks to her help and professional guidance, those dogs have gone on to be successfully adopted. We recommend her to all of our adopters for training and classes for their dogs.

I met Mary when I became interested in agility.   I now remember that as a divine appointment.

I had always trained my own dogs with the exception of taking them to puppy classes (and that was more for the socialization experience than training).   So when we signed up for agility classes my expectations were pretty low.   I was in for a BIG surprise.

In the two years I've known Mary my dog Seth has competed successfully at agility, acted as my service dog for 4 months when I was confined to a wheelchair, 'boned up' on his obedience, and even learned some dancing!  I have never met a trainer with more insight, ideas, or just plain dog savvy.   When we joined up with Mary I didn't realize the extent of her credentials or her experience in the competitive world of dogs.   I have grown to appreciate why she has had the success she has had and how blessed Seth and I are to have her as our instructor.

Lori and Seth (Aussie) GS-E, JS-E, RS-E, OA, OAJ,

Mary, I consider you a life saver and if Buddy and Miazy could talk I know they would too.  After a long search for someone to help me get control and gain some peace with my puppies Buddy a male sheltie age 15 months and Maizy a female sheltie age 9 months old I found you.  When you walked into my house I knew immediately that there might be some hope for all of us.  You were so calm  and reassuring.  When I called you I was desperate for help with these puppies.  They had total control over me, even to the point of herding me by poking me with their noses and nipping at my heels if I did not do what they wanted me to do.  Their bad behavior was all my fault because they needed guidance and I had no idea how to show them what was the right behavior to have.  Poor Maizy she is very hyper and was just always not doing anything right but now I know it is because she did not know the difference between right and wrong behavior. Now I can just look at her and she will sit, lie down and wait for her pat on the head.  Every pointer you gave me Mary worked and worked quickly.  I saw a difference in them only after the first week.  I have a funning story to tell you.  You know how I told you they would really put up a fuss when I would leave for work in the morning.  Well I took your advice and spent a little time calming them and giving them treats.  On the second morning I went through the routine and picked up my purse and headed for the door.  They did not bark when I reached the laundry room nor did they bark when I opened the door to the garage nor did they bark as I was getting into my car.  I was so worried that something was wrong that I almost went back to check on them.  They were just calm and happy and my leaving was okay I guess.  Now I can take a bath with a little peace and quiet, get a good night’s sleep and I really enjoy them.  In fact that is an understatement, Buddy and Maizy bring a lot of joy to me. My puppies needed me to give them direction, they want to please me and now I know how to get that message across to them.  I have so much more confidence in handling them and we all are so much happier. Thank you Mary, thank you from the bottom of my heart, you really made a difference in our lives.

Now I am not saying they are little angels yet and I need you to be there when I need some help.  I know you will.

"I have two very lively small dogs; one dachshund and one Toy Manchester terrier. Mary has helped me harness their energies so that they are getting the kind of learning foundation to help them be successful agility competitors down the road. I am amazed at how quickly they have learned the "dreaded" weave poles which is the most difficult obstacle. Thanks to the training at Dancing Dogs, these two LOVE the weave poles! mary is truly "the dog whisperer".  the kindest, most caring person that you would ever want to come into your life, let alone your dogs life.
mary has taken a beautiful greyhound that was so afraid of men - and her own shadow --- and helped her to find a comfortable space with herself and men ------ to the point that Style will now smile at a certain man.
my girl Style screams with glee when she hears mary's car door lock and practically will jump into her arms.  she would if nate weren't there already!!!
i feel that mary is a blessing and that Style and I are the fortunate ones to be a part of mary's family.

I have been to different agility classes over many years and what I appreciate most about this class is Mary’s ability and willingness to work with our individual needs. She provides excellent, experienced advice to those showing their dogs in competition; At the same time, however, she displays an equal amount of care and interest to those of us not quite ready to enter the ring.  I have the firm belief that even if some of us never earn a title, she will be pleased as  long as we have enjoyed  a fun and meaningful experience with our dog.  I so appreciate this selfless attitude.

We adopted Kilo from Doberman Rescue (DRNT) three years ago.  We have been
pretty much attached to Mary and her family since then.  We have gone through
obedience training, both in and out of the home; we are in ongoing agility
training; and Kilo boards with Mary when we go out of town (we call it Camp Mary
because Kilo loves it and comes home pooped).
Kilo is an amazing dog who has some challenges.  Mary has been a blessing
throughout.  We have respect for her knowledge, experience, and good sense about
dogs and their needs.  She is patient with them, and with the humans too!
Thank you Mary!
